The Spotlight – Sunshine Christian School

2024-08-08

‘The Spotlight’ – Sunshine Christian School

Loving God, loving others, loving learning

Student Representative Council

The School’s Student Representative Council has embraced the school’s strategic focus on building community and strengthening relationships. Two special events have encapsulated this focus by bringing together the three local church communities that support the school. In Term 1, the SRC and church representatives got together to cook pancakes for Pancake Tuesday, and in Term 3, a sausage sizzle brought everyone together. Funds raised during these events were given back to the church communities to support their mission work.

Year 5/6 Camp: Araluen

The Year 5/6 class enjoyed many ‘firsts’ on their adventure to Camp Araluen. The students experienced horse riding, canoeing, archery, and team-building activities during their time at camp. The real highlights, though, came from the visit to the chocolaterie, where the staff, students, and bus driver created their own giant lollipops and indulged in some fine ice cream!

Year 3/4 Camp: Sunnystones

In May, the Year 3/4 students made the long trek into Camp Sunnystones after being dropped off in Long Forest Nature Conservation Reserve. On arrival the student undertook a variety of team building activities including, hut building, Geocaching, survival games and bush cooking.

New Additions

The school has been blessed with two exciting new additions to our play area. A new playground was installed in Term 2 and a cover over the court area at the beginning of Term 3. Both additions have been met with excitement from the students and staff.

We are also excited to use our new pottery wheels to create beautiful artwork. Used in conjunction with the school kiln, the students have created some amazing pieces.
