Building Strong Partnerships for a Thriving Community
One of the school’s strategic intention this year has been to create a connected, caring community. Under this direction, we’ve seen partnerships flourish both within our school and beyond, strengthening the support and opportunities available to our students and families.
Our Whole School Buddy System
One of the most loved activities at our school is the Whole School Buddy System. Each week, buddies come together for reading or writing sessions, not only improving literacy skills but also building community spirit across year levels. Beyond the classroom, older buddies provide invaluable support during excursions, helping younger students feel safe and confident. A highlight of this year was the Green Hat Day, where buddies collaborated to design and build imaginative structures and communities—an inspiring display of creativity and teamwork.
Our parents joined their children after school to admire the box creations and to participate in a bonding activity involving using planks to create imaginative structures.
Empowering Families Through RESP
Through our partnership with Foundation House and The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) the school undertook a Refugee Education Support Program (RESP) project. Through the partnership, we’ve been able to establish a weekly playgroup program. This initiative provides a welcoming space for families to connect, learn, and grow together, reinforcing our commitment to inclusion and caring for our families.
Partnerships Beyond the School Gates
Our commitment to community extends far beyond our campus. We are blessed to have strong relationships with local churches and organisations that share our vision of care and inclusion:
- St Matthews Lutheran Church – Our sister church continues to be a spiritual and practical support for our school community. We are blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the worship services throughout the year.
- Pilgrim Uniting Church – Through generous bursaries, Pilgrim support 4 or 5 of our students to access quality education by reducing the financial burden of the families.
- Enjoy Church – Their fortnightly food packs bring much needed food to families in need.
- One Box – Weekly deliveries of fresh fruit and vegetables promote healthy eating and wellbeing for our students and families.
