Portland Celebrates the Season with Two Spectacular Events
As the year draws to a close, Portland is set to sparkle with two much-anticipated community events: the St John’s Lutheran Primary School Christmas Concert and the Christmas Tree Exhibition.
A Musical Journey Through Creation
The school’s end-of-year concert promises to be a memorable celebration of faith and creativity. This whole-school production, led by our music teacher Mrs Cook, takes audiences on a musical journey through the story of creation, introduces fascinating biblical characters, and concludes in the birth of Jesus Christ. Every student will play a part in bringing this inspiring story of God’s love for the world to life.
Christmas Tree Exhibition – A Community Tradition
On December 5th, 6th, and 7th, the Parents & Friends Association will once again host the beloved Christmas Tree Exhibition in the school’s Unity Centre. Designed to spread festive magic to people of all ages, the exhibition transforms the hall into a wonderland of Christmas trees—each uniquely decorated by schools, kindergartens, businesses, and local organisations.
While the event serves as a fundraiser for St John’s Lutheran Primary School, it also supports a worthy cause. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Club of Portland Beats Cycle for Hope, a charity dedicated to assisting families in the Glenelg Shire affected by cancer.
This cherished tradition is more than an exhibition—it’s a celebration of community spirit, creativity, and generosity. As we reflect on an amazing year, we look forward to celebrating together and finishing on a truly spectacular note.
