Building Connections and Preparing for School
This term, we’ve been focusing on helping children build connections and feel confident about their transition to school. Many of our 4-Year-Olds have enjoyed visiting Good News Lutheran College, exploring the library, music room, and Prep classrooms, meeting teachers, and getting a feel for what school life might be like.
Supporting families and helping children get ready for this next stage has also been a big focus. Our drop-in sessions with occupational therapists have given parents the chance to chat about developmental milestones and ways to support their child’s growth. These sessions have been a great opportunity to discuss important school readiness skills with parents such as independence, confidence, and social interactions. We’re looking forward to more Prep visits in the coming weeks, giving children extra chances to explore, build confidence, and feel excited about starting school wherever they may be heading next year.

Nurturing Faith, Kindness, and Connections at Farmhouse Kinder
At Farmhouse Kinder, we’re always finding ways to help children explore, care, and connect with each other, the world around them, and with God’s love and guidance. Lately, our focus has been on kindness, care, and understanding in all its forms.
Through songs, stories, play, and group discussions, the children have been discovering the beauty of God’s creation and learning ways to care for it. We’ve also reflected on First Nations perspectives, talking about the deep respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold for the land, waterways, sky, and all living things. These ideas have inspired our sustainable practices at kinder from caring for our worm farm to leaving flowers for the bees.
A highlight has been our Kindness Tree, where children record and celebrate acts of kindness each day. Through these shared experiences, and by learning about how Jesus cared for others, the children are growing in empathy, cultural awareness, and appreciation for the people and world around them.
