Across Term 2 and Term 3 this year a group of dedicated leaders across LEVNT have engaged in the RRR leadership course cofacilitated by Derek Wenmouth and Maurie Abraham. The pogram began with 3 days working together in Melbourne at the beginning of the April term break. Leaders then went back into their schools and worked on a project relevant to both their personal leadership growth and the context of their learning community. Across the following 20 weeks leaders met consistently with Derek and Shane or Maurie and Kim to continue to focus and shape their project.
At the recent RRR celebration day we came back together and each leader shared a 10 minute presentation that couched their project journey into 3 lenses past, present, future. The quality of the presentations was excellent and the deep work that each leader had engaged in within their own community and context was inspiring. All projects began with an imagine if context that sparked remarkable joy and hope for our system in the room:
Imagine If….
We have built a wonderful community, but there are inconsistencies in teaching practices that are not aligned to commonly held beliefs that have the potential to put students at risk.
Staff are supported to see and understand that Growing Deep is at the core of all that we do, they will better understand how the culture of Good News positively impacts them.
We use a new metric for success and excellence to measure progress and achievement then the teaching and learning will shift toward durable skills. If we can conduct a successful proof of concept/prototype, then we can achieve approval for us to proceed as a project.
Our staff understand that Growing Deep, along with our College Vision and Mission, is at the heart of all we do at Good News, they begin to see how the culture of our school shapes and supports them. By cultivating this shared foundation, we nurture a strong sense of belonging and connectedness creating the conditions for our educators to truly flourish in a Lutheran school setting.
Imagine if every decision and action we took as a learning community was clearly connected to our shared values, principles, and practices—so that everyone pulled in the same direction with purpose and ownership.
We involve our staff and students in the process of developing our Learning Philosophy and Profiles to create a vision of what can be, we will see an increased energy and buy-in into the stages of development we will be going through to reach our end goal.
