ReimaginED Festval of Learning 2025 kicked off on Tueday evening at a downstairs speakeasy where 100 educators gathered to take on a degustation menu of dangerous education ideas.
4 provocateurs challenged the group to engage in robust discussion about the state of education.
We started by discussing what current practice we think might be considered outrageous and unthinkable in another 30-40 years.
We then went on to discuss how the schoolification of everything takes the joy out of some things. The way we learn how to do something in school makes people not want to do it in real life...our debate was about creativity in school vs the real world.
Louka Parry challenged us to think about fragility and the need for learners to grapple with challenge in order to be well and to grow.
The final debate of the evening was about how in this complex world we might find a way to put love back into education.
It was a challenging evening of conversation with people from diverse experience and perspective. I look forward to bringing you more reflection from the rest of the conference.
