During the year the LEVNT office staff have been addressing the actions in our RAP. Over the term break we were able to complete a few more of these through an organization called NITES – National Indigenous Training Employment Solutions (https://www.nites.biz ).
The office staff found the online presenters to be highly engaging, knowledgeable, practical in their application of this knowledge and it was presented in an objective manner. I would highly recommend this organization if you are looking for a provider to assist in helping deliver some of your RAP actions. We engaged in their 3 hour ‘Cultural Appreciation’ training module.
Two of the actions addressed for the office RAP were:
- Increase staff’s understanding of the purpose and significance behind cultural protocols, including Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country.
- Develop deeper understanding, protocols and documentation informing how to respectfully use English language to refer to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and perspectives.
