The LEVNT Regional Office acknowledges the significant leadership contribution of all those who serve as members on our school councils and boards. It is therefore committed to supporting school councils & boards in the region through attendance at council/board meetings during the year, and by providing ongoing advice and support to council/board Chairs.
The LEVNT Regional Office is also available to provide education & training for school councils/boards. Areas for training may include succession planning, developing strategic priorities for school improvement, facilitating council reviews, shaping policy processes, and establishing enterprise risk frameworks.
Finally, LEVNT Regional Office participated in a national project to provide a suite of resources in support of our school councils and boards. These resources may be accessed via the LEA website.
Risk Management
It is critical that risks are managed, at the school level, in accordance with best practice. This helps to protect the population of the school, its assets, information and reputation. Each school should implement a common risk framework which is currently being defined by LEVNT. This will help to ensure all measures employed to reduce the risks are aligned with the mission of the school and based on a clear understanding of the risk they are intended to treat.
The major risk categories within a school are:
- Strategic
- Financial
- Educational
- Child Protection
- Human Resources
- Health and Safety
- Regulatory
- Stakeholder
- Operational
LEVNT can advise schools regarding the development and implementation of a risk framework. LEVNT staff can also directly assist schools with developing risk registers in collaboration with their school council. For more information please contact our office.
Leadership Development
LEVNT recognises the wide variety of experience, personal attributes and unique workplace challenges of each of the principals within our region. We work in close partnership with each principal and provide bespoke support in line with individual circumstances. In some cases, this support is provided through an ongoing mentoring relationship, while in other cases the support is more ad hoc as needed.
LEVNT does work which benefits the LEVNT principal cohort, equipping and resourcing them as a team, and supporting the principal performance and development framework and process.
LEVNT also provide leadership development and support for second tier and emerging school leaders within the region by providing networking and development opportunities to these potential future school leaders.
