In recent weeks, many of us across our schools have been reflecting on the announcement of the in-principle agreement at a Victorian State level. It brings change, questions, and for many, a sense of uncertainty about what comes next - how it will work, what it will mean for our communities, and how we will respond.
If we’re honest, this feeling isn’t unfamiliar.
We have, in different ways, been here before.
During COVID, and in other seasons of challenge, we found ourselves navigating uncertainty, making decisions without full clarity, and responding in real time as circumstances shifted.
So much of life is lived in the “not yet” - not yet knowing how things will play out, not yet seeing the full picture, not yet having all the answers.
And yet, this is exactly where faith meets us.
Scripture reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
There is a quiet reassurance in this. We are not called to have everything worked out. We are not asked to see the whole road ahead. Instead, we are invited to trust - to take the next step, even when the path feels uncertain.
In our schools, that might look like continuing to lead well, to care for staff and students, and to remain grounded in our purpose - even while questions remain.
The reality is this; uncertainty does not mean absence.
God is not waiting at the end of the road once things become clear. He is already with us now - in the conversations, in the planning, in the unknowns.
We don’t need to understand everything; we are simply called to follow Him, one step at a time.
So as we navigate this season together, perhaps the invitation is not to rush toward certainty, but to walk faithfully within it - trusting that God goes before us, walks beside us, and will continue to guide our schools into what comes next.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
